B-roll of Marines from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit's command element launch a balloon-tethered radio relay for the first time aboard U.S.S. Makin Island Aug. 16. This system floats up to 80,000 feet, extending the communication coverage to an area 600 miles in diameter, regardless of terrain.
