To commemorate the lives lost during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the 104th Fighter Wing held a memorial ceremony in the main hangar and in front of the 104FW fire department, Barnes Air National Guard Base, Westfield, Mass., September 11, 2026. on base Friday. Members of the wing used the time to not only remember the anniversary of 9/11 but also to reflect on the responsibility carried forward by those who now serve 25 years later. At 8:46 a.m., two F-35A Lightning II's launched in a timed scramble, observing the F-15s that were scrambled on Sept. 11, 2001.
