U.S. Army Reserve medical professionals participate in Exercise Ultimate Caduceus 2026, a U.S. Transportation Command-led patient movement exercise designed to test the nation’s ability to receive, triage, track and transport injured service members arriving from overseas locations to definitive care.
The exercise brings together approximately 400 military and civilian personnel across Alpena, Michigan; Boise, Idaho; Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Participants include U.S. Transportation Command, U.S. Northern Command, U.S. Strategic Command, U.S. Air Force aeromedical evacuation crews, Critical Care Air Transport Teams, Army Reserve Medical Command, Department of Veterans Affairs, Defense Health Agency, Department of Health and Human Services, and regional health care and emergency response partners.
The video features Maj. Jesse Back, officer in charge of the Patient Insertion Team, and 1st Lt. Suenomi Cobb, an Area of Concentration (AOC) 66H, or medical-surgical nurse, both from the Aurora, Colo. based 7450th Medical Operations Readiness Unit, discussing their roles in the exercise and the importance of patient movement operations.
Ultimate Caduceus strengthens joint and interagency coordination while ensuring medical forces remain prepared to move patients safely and efficiently through the nation's health care system.
