U.S. and Angolan medical professionals work together to triage and classify trauma patients during a simulated drone attack mass casualty event as part of the Angola Medical Readiness Exercise at Hospital Militar Principal, Luanda, Angola, Sept. 10, 2026. The training strengthened crisis-response readiness by allowing medical personnel to practice rapidly triaging, prioritizing and treating multiple casualties in a high-stress, resource-constrained environment. The MEDREX enhanced the medical readiness and capabilities of U.S. and Angolan military medical personnel. The exercise involved 10 U.S. Army Reserve medical professionals from the 915th Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment, 313th Hospital Center, 2nd Medical Brigade, and was planned and executed by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF).
