Multinational soldiers showcase tactical jungle movements during Exercise Southern Vanguard 26 at Sauce, Peru, Sept. 7-18, 2026. Southern Vanguard is a multinational annual training event that closes with a culminating field exercise where soldiers will showcase their warfighting readiness and techniques they have learned. Marking a turning point for the U.S. Army Western Hemisphere Command, Peru opened their doors to host this year’s exercise for the first time. Southern Vanguard gives allied nations opportunities to integrate soldiers where they learn to maintain agility while working through language and culture barriers. SV26 has participating soldiers from Chile, Peru and the U.S. with Argentina officers observing in preparation for next year’s exercise. (U.S. Army National Guard Video by Pfc. Misty Cobb)
