On July 30, 2026, Soldiers of 2nd Platoon, Charlie Battery, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, conduct self‑recovery operations on one of their M109A7 Paladins using a M992A3 Field Artillery Ammunition Supply Vehicle (FAASV). Self‑recovery is one of many critical tasks firing platoons must perform to maintain mobility, sustain operations, and continue executing fire missions.
From July 20–31, 2026, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment conducted Artillery Table XI at Forward Operating Site Torun, Poland. Batteries tested their ability to execute fire missions, conduct survivability moves, treat casualties, perform resupply operations, recover downed vehicles, respond to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats, and react to small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS). Although AT XI is conducted without live ammunition, the table challenges platoons in a high‑stress field environment and reinforces core Soldier skills essential to artillery readiness.
This iteration also saw increased support from other batteries within 2‑3 FA. Headquarters and Headquarters Battery provided radar and medical assets, while Fox Forward Support Battery refueled firing platoons and conducted major maintenance and repairs. AT XI prepares 2‑3 FA platoons for the upcoming AT XII, which will include live‑fire operations and additional training. (U.S. Army video by 1st Lt. Bryan Kott)
