National Guardsmen assigned to Joint Task Force-District of Columbia in support of the DC Safe and Beautiful Mission, assisted interagency law enforcement during a mass casualty simulation at Ida Lee Park on August 26, 2026. To facilitate a more realistic environment, participating service members wore civilian clothing to blend in with other volunteers.
This joint exercise brought together the Leesburg Police Department, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfax County Explosive Ordnance Disposal, and several volunteer rescue companies—including Sterling, Round Hill, Loudoun County, and Arcola. The training aimed to strengthen interagency coordination, enhance emergency response capabilities, and improve overall readiness for real-world incidents.
