The 81st Force Support Squadron hosted the retreat ceremony in honor of the 85th Anniversary of the naming of Keesler Air Force Base at the 81st Training Wing headquarters flagpole on Tuesday, August 25 2026. Keesler AFB was named in honor of Lieutenant Samuel Keesler on August 25, 1941. Lt. Keesler, a Mississippi native and World War I veteran, was wounded in aerial combat over the skies of Germany on October 8, 1918 and died the next day.
