Competitors arrive at McGregor Range Complex, New Mexico, and receive a Day 0 welcome brief from Command Sgt. Maj. Randolph Delapena, First Army command sergeant major, before the 2026 Gen. John J. Pershing Cup, Aug. 21, 2026. The event brings together 23 teams and 46 competitors for the Army’s annual premier Best Observer, Coach/Trainer competition. The competition tests the expertise, adaptability and professionalism of OC/Ts who help ensure Army Reserve and Army National Guard formations are ready to fight and win when called upon.
