The Pacific Partnership Band celebrates the 200 year legacy of the Musician rating through live performances during the Pacific Partnership 2026 Timor-Leste mission stop in Dili, Timor-Leste, Aug. 12-26, 2026. The U.S. Navy officially established the Musician rating on August 10, 1826, when Secretary of the Navy Samuel L. Southard issued a fleet-wide circular declaring that shipboard musicians were a formal part of the service's "effective force." Now in its 22nd iteration, the Pacific Partnership series is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster management preparedness mission conducted in the region. Pacific Partnership works collaboratively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities, increase security in the region, and foster new and enduring friendships in the Indo-Pacific.
