The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) celebrates its 84th birthday Aug. 16, 2026. The division was officially activated Aug. 16, 1942, at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana.
For 84 years, Screaming Eagles have answered the nation’s call, carrying forward a legacy of courage, service and victory. Today, the division continues that legacy as the Army’s only Air Assault division, remaining ready to deploy, fight and win wherever called.
