U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Robert McKittrick, 627th Logistics Readiness Squadron noncommissioned officer in charge of Fuels Distribution, details how the 627th Logistics Readiness Squadron integrated with the 24th Composite Supply Company to refuel a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft with an U.S. Army M978 Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck tanker at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, July 17, 2026. This joint certification event integrated 10 Army Petroleum Supply Specialists into the 627th LRS’s petroleum, oil, and lubricants flight, the first time this operation has been conducted on the McChord flightline. The certification helped prepare the 24th CSC to execute independent fixed-wing refueling operations in preparation for Exercise KEEN SWORD 26, while enabling critical forward-maneuver capabilities in support of future contingency operations.
