Years of planning, engineering and construction culminated as federal, state and local leaders joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District and project partners to celebrate the completion of the Three Rivers Project near Tichnor, Arkansas, Aug. 12, 2026.

U.S. Sen. John Boozman, U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford and the Hon. Adam Telle, assistant secretary of the Army for civil works, joined USACE leaders and project partners for the event. Attendees also included Maj. Gen. Jason Kelly, USACE deputy commanding general for Civil and Emergency Operations; David Hibner, Southwestern Division Senior Executive Service civilian, director of programs; Col. Tom Allard, Little Rock District commander; Dr. Darrin Curtis, Little Rock District civilian deputy; and Derek Tisdel, vice president and operations manager for Barnard Construction Company.

Located near the confluence of the Arkansas, White and Mississippi rivers, the Three Rivers Project reduces the risk of a cutoff forming between the Arkansas and White rivers and protects the long-term reliability of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System. By reducing that risk, USACE helps safeguard navigation and regional commerce while protecting the surrounding environment and strengthening the resilience of this nationally significant waterway.

The navigation system in Arkansas moves an average of 11.3 million tons of commodities annually and generates an estimated $8.5 billion in economic impact for the nation.
