U.S. Marines and Navy Sailors with the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, and 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division; and U.S. Army Soldiers with the 3rd Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, all assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, conduct Casualty Evacuation (CASEVAC) drills with simulated casualties into a UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter during a CASEVAC drill near Campo, Calif., Aug. 11, 2026. The CASEVAC supports the unit’s ability to rapidly transport injured personnel, reinforcing triage, casualty movement and medical evacuation procedures to enhance service members capabilities along the southern border. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
