U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 201st Field Artillery Regiment, West Virginia Army National Guard, conduct field artillery operations during Exercise Northern Strike 26-2 at the National All-Domain Warfighting Center in Grayling, Michigan, August 2026. Battalion commander, Lt. Col. Charles Naumann, discusses the value of Northern Strike and the training opportunities provided by the National All-Domain Warfighting Center while Soldiers of the battalion demonstrate the process of executing a fire mission, from receiving a call for fire and processing fire mission data to delivering indirect fires on target. Training alongside joint and NATO partners provides the battalion opportunities to strengthen interoperability, refine technical and tactical proficiency, and build readiness for large-scale combat operations.
Northern Strike is an Army-sponsored, multi-component, multinational exercise designed to build readiness and enhance interoperability to fight and win. Northern Strike 26-2, Michigan's largest and longest joint readiness exercise, is held Aug. 1-15, 2026, at the National All-Domain Warfighting Center.
