Ernie Boswell, Wildfire Strike Team Leader, briefs Soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division (Multi-Domain Command - Pacific), on the day's wildfire suppression operations, including medical training and grinding and digging fire break lines, Aug. 10, 2026, at a forward operating base west of Inchelium, Wash. The Army supports the national wildland fire response by providing additional disciplined and capable hand crews to support highly trained civilian firefighters in operations that include constructing fire lines, clearing brush, and performing cleanup.
