Gen. Dale White traveled to Dayton, Ohio, to deliver a message of speed in acquisition during the Life Cycle Industry Days (LCID) Conference. Facing hundreds of defense acquisition experts, White issued a challenge to abandon the status quo and reframe acquisition as a warfighting function. "For too long, we have sat back and relaxed under the idea that we're an administrative and mission support function," he said. "Those days are gone. The time is now for this community to deliver." Currently serving as the Pentagon’s first Direct Reporting Portfolio Manager (DRPM) for Critical Major Weapon Systems, White outlined his vision for a streamlined, outcome-focused defense enterprise, urging the workforce to cut through decades of accumulated regulatory and process burdens. Co-hosted by Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) and Dayton Defense Life LCID and Air Force Research Lab’s (AFRL) Wright Dialogue with Industry (WDI) took place July 27 – 31, 2026, at the Dayton Convention Center in Dayton, Ohio. Though standalone events, LCID and WDI are aligned to gain efficiencies in sharing information, collaboration, and discussion. LCID focuses on the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center's future requirements, collaboration opportunities, and topics covering the entire acquisition life cycle and management across AFLCMC portfolios. Historically, LCID hosts more than 1,000 Government, Industry, and academic attendees and every AFLCMC program office. (U.S. Air Force video by Jim Varhegyi)
