U.S. Marines with the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, and Marines with Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, both assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, operate a Skydio X10 and a VXE30 Stalker Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) to detect potential illicit border activity along the U.S.-Mexico border near Campo, Calif., Aug. 5, 2026. Small unmanned aircraft systems further enhance the effectiveness of securing the nation's border by providing aerial views and deterrence. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
