Members of the South Carolina National Guard, assigned to Joint Task Force-District of Columbia (JTF-DC), in support of the DC Safe and Beautiful, discuss their individual purposes on the mission, July 24, 2026. JTF-DC service members are professionally trained and qualified to support law enforcement organizations. They protect federal personnel and property, and perform administrative tasks, allowing law enforcement professionals to focus on their primary duties. Approximately 5,000 National Guard members are supporting the mission, providing critical assistance to the Metropolitan Police Department to help ensure the safety of residents, commuters, and visitors throughout the District.
