COL Michael Gibler, Ret., served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army for twenty-eight years and is now an Assistant Professor at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC). His assignments included airborne, air assault, and light and Stryker infantry units; he participated in Operation Just Cause, Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a Major, he deployed to Afghanistan from December 2001 to June 2002 as the operations officer, S3, for 3rd Brigade, 101 st Airborne Division (Task Force Rakkasan). In this interview, he shares his experiences as the S3 for Operation Anaconda during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in 2002.
