U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, conduct a transfer of authority ceremony between 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment and 2nd Battalion 32nd Field Artillery Regiment assigned to JTF-SB, at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., June 26, 2026. The transfer of authority ceremony is a formal event signifying the transfer of command and operational duties between an outgoing and incoming unit. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
