U.S. Soldiers assigned to the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research–Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Science (WRAIR-AFRIMS), U.S. Sailors assigned to Pacific Partnership 2026, and Vietnamese public health professionals conduct a vector trapping demonstration during the Off-Site Vector Disease Surveillance Seminar as part of the Joint Pacific Friendship 2026 and Pacific Partnership 2026 engagements in Quang Tri, Vietnam, June 25, 2026. The demonstration included mosquito trapping techniques, collection of mosquito eggs for laboratory testing, preparation of trap bait solutions and field discussions on disease surveillance methods to enhance the host nation's capabilities to identify and respond to vector-borne diseases. Pacific Friendship is an annual U.S. Army Pacific-led bilateral engagement focusing on the U.S.-Vietnamese People’s Army’s humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, as well as various medical and engineering activities to advance the mutual interest of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
