U.S. Army soldiers with 3rd Battalion, 501st Attack Battalion, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, and U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, both assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, conduct a rapid air insertion operation with a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter near Chula Vista, Calif., June 14, 2026. The mission provided Army soldiers and Marines an opportunity to strengthen joint partnerships, utilizing air assets for rapid infiltration. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
