U.S. and Allied service members, alongside local community leaders and guests gathered at the Borne Zéro Monument in the first town in France to be freed from Nazi occupation during World War II, Sainte-Mère-Église.
The Borne Zéro is the first in a series of stone markers laid to commemorate the route U.S. Army Gen. George Patton's Third Army followed during the liberation of Europe.
