Dorian Santiago, commander of the Annihilator Company Team with 1st Battalion, 35th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border, explains his company's role and mission during Operation Strike Kraken in order to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) near Bisbee, Ariz., May 22, 2026. The unit's mission involves monitoring 96 miles of barrier to detect and deter illegal crossings by providing visual surveillance and coordinating with CBP agents. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and CBP within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
