U.S. Navy Corpsmen with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border, partner with U.S. Border Patrol emergency medical technicians during a joint medical and casualty evacuation training exercise in Douglas, Ariz., May 1, 2026. This interagency exercise allows Border Patrol EMTs to maintain recertification proficiency while enabling military medical personnel to integrate with civilian staff on shared casualty turnover and air evacuation procedures. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
