U.S. Army Vietnam War Medal of Honor recipient retired Spc. 4 Michael J. Fitzmaurice reflects on what it means to fly with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, “Wings of Destiny,” during a distinguished visitor flight at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, during Week of the Eagles 2026.
Also aboard were U.S. Army Medal of Honor recipient Kenneth J. David, U.S. Army Korean War veteran Fred Forsyth and Mayor Kees van Rooij of Meierijstad, Netherlands. Their visit served as a reminder of the courage, enduring bonds, international partnerships and shared history carried forward by the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
