    The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is planting 3,000 Jeffrey Pine seedlings this month within the Tamarack Fire burn area near Markleeville, California, May 2026. The reforestation effort is a collaboration with the Rocky Mountain Research Station and the University of Nevada, Reno, with funding provided by CalFire. The project aims to restore native vegetation in areas severely impacted by the 2021 fire. (Forest Service video by Chris Buckley)
