The People’s Liberation Army employs a robust combat engineer capability with a focus on obstacles, entrenchments, fortifications, and mobility.
There are four primary components to the PLAA: combat engineer capability: mobility, countermobility, protection, and recovery.
Mobility of your maneuvering forces is particularly important in the offense.
Obstacles and other capabilities disrupt and delay an attacker.
Protecting and preserving stationary forces and capabilities is also key.
Recovering damaged vehicles enables their future-use and prevents use by an enemy.
PLAA engineer units are also responsible for chemical defense and obscuration within a combat area.
Information of common PLAA engineer systems is on the ODIN portal.
