Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Corona Division joined forces with the University of California San Diego through the signing of an Education Partnership Agreement at the university's campus in La Jolla, Calif., April 17, 2026. Speakers included Capt. Joseph Burgon, commanding officer of NSWC Corona, Matthew Khalil, acting chief technology officer at NSWC Corona, and Albert Pisano, dean of UC San Diego's Jacobs School of Engineering. Education Partnership Agreements are formal agreements between defense laboratories and educational institutions to boost STEM education while developing the next generation of Navy scientists and engineers.
