U.S. Marines assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) participate in a transfer of authority ceremony between the 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, and Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., April 23, 2026. The ceremony marks the formal exchange of responsibilities between the two units in support of the task force's mission. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
