The world-renowned Budweiser Clydesdales visited Fort Bliss on Apr. 25, 2026, bringing more than a century of tradition to the installation as they celebrate their 150th anniversary. Soldiers, families, and members of the local community gathered to experience the iconic hitch team up close during a live demonstration. Known for their size, strength, and precision, each Clydesdale stands over six feet tall and can weigh up to 2,000 pounds. First introduced in 1933 to commemorate the repeal of Prohibition, the Budweiser Clydesdales have since become a symbol of American heritage. Accompanied by their signature Dalmatian, a tradition rooted in the early days of horse-drawn beer wagons, the team continues to represent excellence, discipline, and teamwork. Megan Arnold, a Clydesdale handler who travels with the hitch nearly 300 days a year, spoke to Crista Mack, Fort Bliss Garrison Public Affairs, about caring for the horses and showcasing this living piece of history across the country. The visit to Fort Bliss connects generations, highlighting the enduring legacy of the Clydesdales while bringing the community together in celebration of 150 years of tradition.
