U.S. Navy Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) 62, attached to Assault Craft Unit FIVE and operating from San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Portland (LPD 27), moors at the Port of Saipan in Puerto Rico Village, Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, April 25, 2026. LCAC 62 delivered generators to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Honolulu District’s Power Planning and Response Team and 249th Engineer Battalion to install temporary emergency power to critical facilities throughout the island in the wake of Typhoon Sinlaku. The Department of War plays a key role in disaster response, with all of its efforts in close coordination with and in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency working with Guam and CNMI civil and local officials.
