On April 22, 2026, Col. Samuel "Joe" Nirenberg and Command Sgt. Maj. Brandon Morey hosted Molly Pitcher Day at Fort Bliss, Texas, welcoming over 40 spouses of service members assigned to 1st Armored Division Artillery (DIVARTY). The event provided spouses with a firsthand perspective on the daily operational requirements of artillery Soldiers through a series of interactive demonstrations, including equipment familiarization, tactical training simulations, and specialized physical activities. Named after Mary Ludwig Hays, who famously manned a cannon during the Revolutionary War’s Battle of Monmouth in 1778, the event served to strengthen unit cohesion and offer families a deeper understanding of the DIVARTY mission and the historical legacy of the Field Artillery branch.
