Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center celebrated a decade in its new facility with a ceremony recognizing its people.
During the ceremony, the Order of Military Medical Merit was presented to 12 staff member, four for their continued service to the hospital, and hospital's fourth consecutive Leapfrog "A" grade banner was unveiled.
Over the past 10 years, that commitment has translated into millions of patient interactions - more than 4.3 million primary care visits, 5.6 million specialty care encounters, and more than 460,000 emergency room visits. The hospital has also supported more than 18,000 newborn deliveries and filled more than 10 million prescriptions.
"It is the people that write the heart and soul, the life and breath of this organization," said Col. Mark Jacques, hospital commander. "It is the people that provide comfort and passion, that provide prevention and healing, and it is the people that ensure readiness and support the community."
