U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to 204th Airlift Squadron prepare rescue equipment on C-17 Globemaster IIIs for the NASA Artemis II mission on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, March 31, 2026. Two Globemaster IIIs—one at JBPHH and one at Joint Base Charleston—are fully loaded with specialized rescue equipment, survival craft, and highly-trained pararescuemen to provide rapid-response contingency rescue and recovery capabilities for the Orion spacecraft's return to Earth.
