On National Vietnam Veterans Day, we recognize and remember the sacrifices of Vietnam War veterans who were denied a proper welcome upon returning home more than 50 years ago. The date, March 29, was chosen because on March 29, 1973, Military Assistance Command-Vietnam (MACV) was disbanded, and the last U.S. combat troops departed the Republic of Vietnam.
