U.S. Air Force honors retired U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Stamaris, a former prisoner of war, with a “Freedom Flight” on Joint Base San Antonio, Randolph, Texas, March 26, 2026. Stamaris was a UH-60 Black Hawk crew chief when his aircraft was shot down in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. A “Freedom Flight” is ceremonial and serves as a symbolic return for POWs.
