From seatbelts to personal protective equipment, safety is an inherent part of military culture. There is little most of us would not do to protect our teammates and loved ones and nowhere is this more critical than in the area of suicide prevention. Putting a few minutes of time and distance between someone in suicidal crisis and their access to lethal means (i.e., firearms, medications) can reduce suicide risk and save lives.
