The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s chief scientific in‑house research agency, dedicated to delivering scientific solutions to national and global agricultural challenges. ARS serves American farmers, producers, industry partners, rural communities, and the broader public by supporting food security, agricultural productivity, environmental stewardship, and economic competitiveness. Its research is organized into four major National Program areas: Animal Science (Fort Collins, CO), Land Utilization (Peoria, IL), Plant Science (Stoneville, MS), and Post Production (Albany, CA), each addressing critical issues from farm to table and ensuring that U.S. agriculture remains resilient, innovative, and sustainable.
