The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' original Jameson Island Chute Project crosses the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Big Muddy National Fish and Wildlife Refuge. The Corps has announced plans to restore additional shallow water habitat on the site by diverting the existing outlet and extending the chute another mile to the west.
