米海艦船修理廠及び日本地区造修統括本部（SRF-JRMC）は米海軍横須賀及び佐世保基地に配備されている艦船に様々な艦船修理・整備・近代化のサービスを提供することで、第７艦隊の艦船を常に機能できる状態に保っている。業務やサービスは工場によって異なるが、すべての工場がこの使命を維持する責任を果たしている。

JED司令官であるゲイリー・ボナム大佐が制定し、JEDの上位組織である米陸軍工兵隊太平洋管区（POD) の承認を得て、事業管理統括本部（PPMD）と工事統括本部は、日々変化する日米同盟の建設要件を満たすために、組織の人員を再編成・再配置し、より効率的な地区組織としてJEDを最適化することになりました。
