. 2024年2月22日、ミカニア・ミクランサの防除作業後に種の拡散防止のために靴底をきれいにする海兵隊員。この日、3人の海兵隊員が、やんばる国立公園の南部に位置するキャンプ・シュワブから車で40分ほど北上した東村の慶佐次川上流付近を訪れ、東村の国宝を守るために特定外来生物ツルヒヨドリの除去作業を手伝った。
