On April 17, 2019, Acting Secretary of Defense, Mr. Patrick M. Shanahan, released a memo urging the Department of Defense's participation in the Federal Emergency Management Agency's 2019 National Preparedness Campaign. Additionally, Acting Secretary of Defense Shanahan included in his memo the DoD Emergency Preparedness Guidance Booklet to assist DoD Service Members, civilian DoD employees, DoD contractors, and their families in becoming more resilient and prepared against the threats and hazards they may encounter.
