HERAT, Afghanistan - Gen. James Terry, the commander of ISAF Joint Command, visited Regional Command West, the Italian-led sub-command for Western Afghanistan, yesterday.
Gen.Terry was welcomed at the Headquarters of Regional Command West in Herat by Brig. Gen. Dario Ranieri, who presented an operational update in his area of responsibility, with focus on the transition process.
Later on, Gen. Terry visited the operational base of Islam Qala, at the border with Iran, where units of the Afghan Border Police are deployed along with ISAF troops.
At the end of the visit, Gen. Terry expressed his satisfaction to Brig. Gen. Ranieri and his staff for the achievements in supporting the Afghan National Security Forces in Western Afghanistan.
