FORT MCCLELLAN, Ala. - The Alabama Army National Guard’s 167th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC) deployed additional soldiers November 3 in response to Hurricane Sandy disaster relief efforts. A group of eighteen soldiers departed from Anniston to join the advance party deployed from 167th TSC shortly after the incident.
“The Theater Sustainment Command’s forward team will be helping take care of the reception of units going to the area, tracking, BSI (Base Support Installation) coordination, and one of the main tasks, managing fuel distribution,” said Lt. Col. Tony Bedford, Supply Branch Section Chief.
The 171st Aviation Regiment Detachment 3, Company H, of Frankfort, Kentucky along with the 458th Airlift Squadron (458 AS) that is part of the 375th Airlift Wing at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. aided with the transportation of soldiers to the affected areas.
The Army National Guard has mobilized soldiers from several states in response to Hurricane Sandy’s relief efforts. Agencies are working in partnership with FEMA and the U.S. military to restore back the damaged areas and provide support to those affected.
