FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who was found unresponsive Oct. 12 while on leave at his mother’s residence in Alton, Ill. Doctors pronounced him deceased the same day.
Pfc. Nathaniel James Huie, 25, whose home of record is also listed as Alton, Ill., entered the military in March 2012 as a cannon crewmember. He arrived at Fort Hood in August 2012 and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 5th Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since September 2012.
Huie’s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
Circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation.
