MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Donated computers allow families to email/Skype their deployed Marine.
What: Operation Homelink and Raytheon with support from the USO of NC, will be distributing 100 refurbished laptops and webcams to the spouses of the members of the II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp LeJeune, N.C. Additionally, 100 new webbooks donated by Litl, Inc. will be distributed to 100 junior-enlisted Marine families stationed the Marine Corp Air Station, Cherry Point, N.C. These donations will enable 200 junior-enlisted Marine families to communicate via email and videoconference with their Marine soon set to deploy overseas. Representatives of Operation Homelink, the USO of NC and Marine families receiving the computers will be available for interviews.

Editor’s Note: Operation Homelink is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(C3) organization founded in Fall 2002 with a mission of facilitating e-mail communication between servicemembers deployed overseas and their families back home. Most servicemembers have e-mail access on ships and even in desert outposts. Operation Homelink expedites the communication process by providing a computer to the spouse, child or parents of servicemembers within the pay grades of E1-E5. With the help from supporters including Raytheon, Dell, Fluor and Southwest Airlines, to date Operation Homelink has distributed more than 7,000 computers to military families, wounded warriors and unemployed veterans across the U.S. and to several overseas locations in the Middle East.
The 100 refurbished laptops for Camp LeJeune families were generously donated by Raytheon Company of Walton, Mass. while the donation of 100 new web books was made possible by Litl, Inc of Boston, Mass.
