WHARTON, N.J. – Coach Bob Beatty of Trinity High School (Louisville, Ky.) and Mike Jinks of Byron P. Steele High School (Cibolo, Texas) have been selected to coach the East and West squads in the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Beatty and Jinks will lead their all-star teams consisting of the top high school talent from across the Nation on the field, Jan. 5, 2013, at 1 p.m. (ET) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

“A team is only as strong as its leadership,” said John Myers, director of marketing, United States Army Marketing and Research Group. “Leadership is a trait highly valued in the Army and these coaches exemplify that trait and reflect the qualities of Army Strong soldiers. We are proud to announce their selection, and look forward to watching them lead the talented young athletes of the 2013 game.”

    Coach Bob Beatty Highlights (East):
Beatty was honored with the 2012 Russell Athletic Coach of the Year award in a season where he led Trinity High School to be the Rivals.com 2012 National Champions. Since becoming head coach of Trinity in 2000, the team has posted a 152-21 record, including eight State Championships. Beatty’s teams have finished in the USA Today Super 25 on three occasions. He was an assistant coach for the West team during the 2012 Bowl. He will serve as the East team’s head coach during the 2013 edition of the Bowl.

“I am honored to represent the best of the best in high school football from around the country, and I am equally humbled to wear the colors of the U.S. Army,” said Beatty. “I look forward to leading the East squad on the field in San Antonio.”

    Coach Mike Jinks Highlights (West):
Jinks is credited with building Byron P. Steele High School’s football program from a start-up to a national contender. The team is 44-16 since Jinks took over, including a 5A Texas State Championship in 2010 and the state final in 2012. He served as an assistant coach for the West during the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl and will be the head coach for West in the 2013 game.

“Over the course of my career, I have been fortunate to receive honors and awards, but none as great as the honor of being named head coach for the West team at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. It is truly one of the most prestigious honors any coach can receive,” said Jinks. “To wear the coach’s shirt with the U.S. Army on it, is an honor that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl features the top 90 high school players from across the country. The Bowl’s Selection Tour kicked off last week with the selection of Kent Perkins (Lake Highlands High School) and Thomas Tyner (Aloha High School). Selections will continue throughout this fall. The 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl drew a record crowd of 39,011 to the Alamodome, and was the most-watched sporting event on television over the weekend, excluding the NFL playoffs.
