3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii - The thundering of troops, cadences, and the hammering of feet are all stark contrast to the origins of 9/11. More than a decade later the ripples of that fateful day are still felt in our daily lives.

“We gather today on our own hallowed ground not only to remember those 3,000 souls, but also our fallen comrades that gave their lives in the subsequent 11 years of war.” said Col. Brian S. Eifler, commander 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.

Leaders of the 25th Division along with all of 3BCT’s soldiers paused to reflect on the lives lost on Patriots day. The ceremony included a brigade run , reading of the names on the Bronco Memorial of the lost during the 11 years of war and a moment of silence for the fallen.

The devastation of the Twin Towers, mirrored with the attack of the Pentagon, helped to highlight the bravery and sacrifice of Flight 93, the first responders and every American watching in horror that day.

Col. Eifler reminded soldiers how the attacks on September 11, 2001 ushered in a new era for the military, while praising those who joined because that day.

Citizens of this country honor the fallen in many ways.

As President Barack Obama put it, “Even the simplest act of kindness can be a way to honor those we have lost, and to help build stronger communities and a more resilient nation.”

Even with the horror visited upon our homeland a little over a decade ago, the soldiers and families of the Bronco Brigade stand to remember a moment in history and honor the lives of those who will never be forgotten.
